cats and classical music.

A few days ago, I was walking to our town library.
Whenever I take a walk, I think about everything and absolutely nothing at all. My thinking process is basically me making small talk with myself.
And I realized that I changed a lot over the last few years.

I think the biggest change is that I've started to really appreciate classical music. I used to to think that it was really boring and reserved for old people, but then I joined an intense wind ensemble. Never in my life have I been around people who appreciated music quite like they did.
I was swept along with this huge classical-music current and started to listen to it.

I showed a recording that I really liked to one of my old friends. I can't quite remember which one it was, but I thought it was fascinating. He laughed and said that I was being brainwashed.
And I don't know if that was directed as an insult, but that really hit home.

I'm not ashamed of listening to classical music.
I just don't know if it's something I should openly share or not. I know that most people in my school don't even think about it as a type of "good" music and I'm really not up the challenge of trying to argue against years upon years of teenage culture.

...I'm not really sure where I'm going with this.
Maybe I'm trying to say that I'm trying to figure out what things I should share with others and what I shouldn't.
But then again, I really don't want to put a censor on my words.
I think that if someone wants to listen to me, they should have to deal with the fact that I do nerdy things.

This post has just turned into a trainwreck of conflicting thoughts, so I'm going to end it before my writing morphs into something about goats or whatever.

It's way too late but I accidentally had coffee an hour ago.
I'm basically fueled on caffeine with nothing to do.
I could either write a blog post or watch videos of cats, which I will probably do once I publish this.
Of course, I could study, but it's Friday and I never do work on Friday. I'm more of a cram-on-Sunday-night type of person.

And while I'm on this tangent, I'd like to let you know that I learned to juggle.
I found three juggling balls under my bed and I basically learned to juggle them when I should have been writing a History essay.

I really need to work on my time management.

I definitely don't think classical music is a nerdy thing, and if it's something you like then there's no reason to hide it. It's all in what you grow up with. We assume the music we were raised on is normal and other stuff is weird or for 'old people'. You musical taste is widening out and it's doing it before your friends. That's okay.

I love classical music!! Growing up I thought it was extremely boring, but once I got involved in concert band for many years, my appreciation for it grew. There's so much emotion in it. I find that classical music is really nice to relax to!

Classical music can be really good if done right, though most old ensembles aren't that nice in my opinion. You should give neo-classic music a shot!

I agree with Jay. If you like it it has become part of who you are and you should never hide that.

Also I think you should now lean to juggle with four balls. Then move onto swords or flaming torches. I think that would be a useful talent to have.

Don't be ashmamed of your love for classical music. I know a guy in my school who LOVES classical music and even 'head bangs' to it, but no one really ridicules him. It's just that some people have different taste of music. You should embrace your difference and be happy that you're unique! <3

I love classical music. I used to be ashamed of liking it as it wasn't and still isn't seen as "cool". Not anymore though.

Trust me, stick to your guns and don't try and change what you like. It'll only make you miserable.

Besides, the people worth keeping in your life will love you for you and respect what you're into. If they don't, then they're not worth worrying about.

everyone can't all like the same things. it's nice that you've taken on an appreciation for classical music and it's fine if some of your friends don't think that's very awesome.

also i could not juggle even if my life depended on it. teach me, master! haha.

Funny thing, because I've had an infatuation with classical music for the past 2 weeks and I love it! I've never had the chance to really have the time to understand the soothing-ness of classical music...but now that I do have the time, I enjoy it! I have can't go a day with out it :)

Hey Fiona, Everybody's talking about classical music, but what got me interested was you posted this after midnight and you'd just had a cup of coffee? And you had it accidentally? How can you have coffee at 11 at night accidentally? Just asking.
I love coffee too. Here's a post I made about it at Freaky Dude Books.

http://freakydudebooks.com/wp/dont-you-go-calling-me-a-caffeine-head-im-just-getting-smarter-thats-all/

I post about twice a week (when the guy who's kind of in charge of me lets me get online. See, I kind of live in cyberspace.) I like big words too. Stick them in whenever I get the chance.

Anyway, just reading the "Me" description you wrote reminds me a little of myself.

AS music has somewhat put me off classical music for now, because we have to analyse it.
By the way, I've tagged you in this question game thingy on my blog, it's quite fun to do, so check it out of you're bored.

I happen to like you AND your posts just the way you/they are. You can say whatever you want, whenever you want. That's the great thing about being a human being. <3 And if doing all of that makes you a nerd, then so be it!

You shouldn't be ashamed of saying that you like classical music. I know what you mean by the "good" your school mates like. I don't like "good" music. i always go for bad music. it's sweet :D Nice blog :)
